During a media discussion, state Minister Aisha Ghaus Pasha addressed the claim made by IMF Mission Chief Neithan Porter regarding interference in Pakistan’s domestic matters.
The State Minister emphasized that Pakistan is abiding by the law.
Aisha Ghaus Pasha highlighted that the IMF Mission Chief’s statement is remarkable, as the IMF does not possess the authority to meddle in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
She also stressed that the delay in the loan program is unfavorable for both Pakistan and the IMF.
According to her, the Prime Minister has given assurance to the IMF regarding the implementation of conditions and completion of the program.
It is anticipated that a staff-level agreement will be achieved prior to the introduction of the new budget.
The IMF program is scheduled to conclude on June 30. If an agreement with the IMF is not reached, the Treasury Department will take proactive measures.
While there is always a backup plan, our primary focus is on the IMF program.
She mentioned that the upcoming budget will be designed for the election year and is currently being prepared with a reference to June 9.
The new budget aims to provide relief to the public, and efforts will be made to avoid placing additional burdens on the common man.
Furthermore, she highlighted that the IMF allows for targeted subsidies in Pakistan.
