Court orders release of Lt-Gen. (Retd) Amjad Shoaib
ISLAMABAD: A court ordered release of military veteran, Lt-Gen. (Retd) Amjad Shoaib immediately.
Islamabad police arrested him on Monday on charges of inciting the public against the state institutions.
Tahir Abbas Sipra, Additional Sessions Judge today announced the reserved verdict, giving order for immediate release of the retired army officer and security analyst.
On Monday, a local court in Islamabad gave a three-day physical remand of Lt-Gen. (Retd) Amjad Shoaib. Islamabad police arrested Amjad Shuaib for inciting the public against the institutions.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah gave the physical remand of Amjad Shoaib.
On Monday, Islamabad police presented Lt-Gen. (Retd) in the court of Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah.
During the hearing, the prosecutor sought seven-days physical remand of the accused. He informed the magistrate that Islamabad police have registered an FIR against Amjad Shoaib on Saturday.
He claimed that Shoaib tried to spread hate between the government, the opposition and the government employees in his TV channel interview.
The judicial magistrate Abbas Shah gave three-day remand of Amjad Shoaib. He directed the police officials to present him in the court when his remand ends.
Raid at the residence of Amjad Shoaib
Earlier, Islamabad police arrested Lt-General (retired) Amjad Shoaib in a pre-dawn raid on Monday for inciting the public against institutions.
The Ramna police station team raided the residence of Amjad Shoaib in Islamabad and apprehended him.


On Saturday, an FIR was lodged against the retired army officer following his television interview in which he tried to provoke the public against institutions.
Magistrate Awais Khan filed the complaint with Ramna Police Station on Saturday. The police FIR under sections 153A and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Shuaib.
According to the FIR, Shuaib tried to incite the general public to revolt against institutions during his interview. Today, police will present him in a local court to seek his remand.
Earlier, FIA had summoned Shuaib on September 7th after he claimed that PM Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with an Israel leader.
Lt-General (Retd) Amjad Shuaib, nonetheless, failed to appear before the FIA’s Cybercrimes Wing.
Amjad Shuaib had made the statement alleging that the prime minister had met with an Israeli delegation during a visit to a Gulf country.
