Caretaker PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar Reveals Voting for PTI in 2013 and 2018 Elections

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar revealed that he voted for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the 2013 and 2018 elections. During an interview with a private TV channel, he expressed no shame in his decision, stating that he supported the PTI with expectations of improvements in governance and the economy.

Addressing PTI’s concerns about a level playing field, Kakar assured that the government would investigate any complaints about obstacles preventing individuals from participating in the electoral process.

He emphasized the freedom of people to vote for candidates of their choice and disclaimed any policy to exclude anyone from the political process. Kakar pledged to investigate and engage with the Election Commission of Pakistan if anyone is found to be prevented from the election process.

Regarding the May 9 riots, Kakar asserted that those involved in the incidents should not be allowed to hold public office. However, he clarified that the entire PTI should not be linked to the May 9 incident, and people should have the choice to vote for it in the election.

Discussing the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan, Kakar mentioned that Khan was arrested based on an allegation and could have sought relief from the court. However, he criticized the PTI for resorting to violence, which led to the current circumstances.
