YouTube has introduced an enhanced eraser tool that simplifies the process for content creators to delete any copyrighted music from their videos.
This tool allows creators to remove copyrighted music without affecting other audio elements, such as dialogue or sound effects.
“Good news, creators: our updated Erase Song tool helps you easily remove copyright-claimed music from your video (while leaving the rest of your audio intact),” wrote Neal Mohan, the chief executive officer of YouTube, on X.
YouTube explained that while it has been testing the eraser tool for some time, earlier versions were not always successful in removing copyrighted songs. The new tool, however, uses an AI-powered algorithm to accurately identify and delete copyrighted music without impacting other audio in the video.
YouTube cautions that the algorithm may occasionally struggle to remove certain songs.
“This edit might not work if the song is hard to remove. If this tool doesn’t successfully remove the claim on a video, you can try other editing options, such as muting all sound in the claimed segments or trimming out the claimed segments,” the company stated.
In cases where removing specific audio is not feasible, creators can opt to mute the affected sections to resolve copyright claims flagged by YouTube’s auto-detection system.
