ISLAMABAD: Pakistan successfully conducted a training launch of the Shaheen-II surface-to-surface ballistic missile, the military’s media wing announced on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the purpose of the training launch was to train troops, validate various technical parameters, and evaluate the performance of different sub-systems incorporated to improve accuracy and enhance survivability.
Senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Strategic Forces Command, and scientists and engineers from strategic organizations witnessed the test-firing.
The Director General of the Strategic Plans Division praised the technical expertise, dedication, and commitment of the scientists who contributed to this significant achievement, according to the ISPR statement.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and the service chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on this accomplishment.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office has strongly refuted claims made in a recent report by the Jerusalem Post, which alleged that Pakistan had provided Shaheen-3 missiles to Iran.
In a clear and firm response, FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch dismissed these reports as entirely baseless and false. “The claims about supplying Shaheen-3 missiles to Iran are unequivocally false,” she stated, emphasizing the need to consider the source and the potentially malicious agenda behind such unfounded allegations.
The spokesperson highlighted the sensitivity of the current geopolitical climate in the Middle East, urging all parties, including media outlets, to act responsibly and avoid spreading misinformation. “This is a critical time in the Middle East, and all parties, including the media, should refrain from disseminating fake news,” she added.
