BAJAUR: At least three individuals, including former senator Hidayat Ullah, lost their lives in a tragic incident involving a remote-controlled bomb explosion targeting a vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district on Wednesday, as confirmed by local police.
The deadly attack occurred in Bajaur’s Damadola village, where the vehicle carrying Hidayat Ullah was specifically targeted using a remote-controlled device, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bakht Munir.
Hidayat Ullah, a former independent senator representing the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), was fatally caught in the blast along with two others, as reported by DSP Munir.
The news of the explosion has sent shockwaves through the region, highlighting ongoing security challenges in areas that have witnessed conflict and instability in the past.
Bajaur, situated near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, has been a focal point in efforts to combat extremism and terrorism, making incidents like these particularly unsettling for local residents and authorities alike.
Hidayat Ullah, known for his advocacy and political contributions during his tenure as a senator, was respected within his community and beyond.
His sudden and tragic death has left a void not only in his family but also among his colleagues and constituents who valued his leadership and commitment to public service.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the bombing, aiming to ascertain the perpetrators and motives behind this targeted attack.
Such incidents underscore the fragile security situation in parts of Pakistan, where efforts to maintain peace and stability remain ongoing challenges.
The loss of Hidayat Ullah and the others in this senseless act of violence serves as a poignant reminder of the human toll exacted by terrorism and the need for continued vigilance in safeguarding communities against such threats.
As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of these lives and reflects on the broader implications for peace and security in the region.
