ISLAMABAD: Director Genera of the ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, said that at least 90 militants have been killed during intelligence-based operations of security forces.
Lt Gen Chaudhry stated that around 130 IBOs are conducted daily by the Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies, police, and other LEAs.
Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), addressed a press conference in Rawalpindi on Thursday, highlighting the recent surge in terrorist attacks that have claimed the lives of numerous civilians and members of the security forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs).
He said that security forces and LEAs conducted 32,173 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across the country in the first eight months of the year, targeting terrorists and their facilitators. Of these, 4,021 operations were carried out in the last month alone.

About Lt-General (Retd) Faiz Hameed, DG ISPR said that the army received a complaint against Faiz from the Ministry of Defence. The complaint was related to the Faiz Hameed’s involvement in the Top City scam. He said that the court martial of Faiz Hameed was underway.
ISPR chief also said that the army was not a political institution in the country and it was not supporting any particular party.
Addressing the issue of accountability within the army, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry stated that legal action would be taken against individuals spreading misinformation and propaganda, especially on social media platforms.
Regarding the case of Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, he explained that the matter was referred to the army through the Defence Ministry. A high-level court of inquiry was established to investigate the “Top City” case before initiating a Field General Court Martial.
He emphasized that if any officer uses their position within the military for personal gain or to pursue a political agenda, the army’s internal accountability mechanism will take swift action. The arrested officers, he added, will be afforded their legal rights, including the ability to appoint a lawyer of their choice and the right to appeal.
Lt Gen Faiz Hameed was taken into custody on August 12. A previous statement from the ISPR confirmed that the Pakistan Army had conducted a thorough court of inquiry, in compliance with orders from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, to examine complaints related to the Top City case.

DG ISPR Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry stated that 193 officers and soldiers embraced martyrdom during counter-terrorism operations.
Addressing the recent unrest in Balochistan, Lt Gen Chaudhry referred to the militant attacks that took place between the night of August 25 and 26 in the province. He acknowledged the sense of deprivation felt by some in Balochistan but made it clear that those involved in acts of terrorism have no connection to Islam or the province.
