ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to depart for Dubai after the passage of the constitutional amendment.
Sources indicate that Bilawal will travel to Dubai today, where he is expected to meet his sister, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari. He will stay in Dubai for a few days. His trip had been delayed due to the ongoing work on the constitutional amendment.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has canceled his scheduled visit to Samoa.
In a related development, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar mentioned that the proposals from JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had been incorporated into the bill passed by the Senate on Sunday night.
Earlier, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari urged the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and other opposition parties to support the constitutional package, cautioning that the government may resort to its “brute majority” if no consensus is reached.
He warned that if the opposition continues to withhold support after numerous compromises, he would have no choice but to pass the legislation with the PML-N and their additional members through sheer majority.
