On Monday, the police apprehended PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and spokesperson Rauf Hassan in Islamabad. The arrests took place at the party secretariat in Sector G-8. A substantial police force, including a contingent of women officers, surrounded the building to carry out the operation.
During the arrest, the police also conducted a search of the secretariat, seizing various records as part of their ongoing investigation. The heavy presence of law enforcement underscores the seriousness of the action taken against the PTI officials.
Following confirmation of the arrests, the opposition party criticized the law enforcement agencies, accusing them of flouting legal procedures.
PTI said in a statement on X, “It’s absolutely shameful how Islamabad Police continues to completely mock and disregard every law in this country. Law of the jungle is reigning over Pakistan!”
