Azm-e-Istehkam: Military Rejects ‘Unwarranted Criticism’ of New Operation

On Friday, the top military leadership strongly condemned the unwarranted criticism directed at the newly launched anti-terrorism operation, Azm-e-Istehkam, accusing certain factions of deliberately misrepresenting its purpose for their own gain.

This condemnation came in the wake of the 265th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC), which convened at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The meeting was chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The conference entailed a comprehensive review of the internal and external security situation in Pakistan. It included detailed discussions on the various aspects of the new anti-terrorism operation, Azm-e-Istehkam. The military’s media wing emphasized that the operation is designed to streamline and bolster national counter-terrorism efforts in a coordinated manner. Its primary goal is to dismantle the networks of terrorism and illegal activities within the country, thereby fostering lasting stability and economic prosperity.

The ISPR highlighted that the military forum expressed significant concern over the baseless criticism from certain quarters. It noted that these criticisms involved deliberate misrepresentations of the operation’s vision, aimed at furthering specific vested interests. The military’s statement underscored the need for a united front in addressing the critical security challenges facing the nation.

The operation Azm-e-Istehkam represents a pivotal move in Pakistan’s ongoing battle against terrorism. By uniting various counter-terrorism initiatives under a single, coherent strategy, the military aims to eradicate terrorist networks and their illegal operations comprehensively. The statement from the top military brass is a call for solidarity and accurate representation of the operation’s objectives, stressing that misleading portrayals only serve to hinder the nation’s fight against terrorism and undermine its path to stability and prosperity.
