Avalanche rocked the Gilgit-Baltistan neighbourhood of Astore

On Saturday, a snow avalanche rocked the Gilgit-Baltistan neighbourhood of Astore, tragically killing at least 10 people and injuring another 26.

Tufail Mir, the deputy inspector general of police for the Diamer-Astore Division, verified the incident and announced that a control room had been set up in the area to help with rescue efforts and pull people out from under the rubble.

Rescue personnel have swiftly descended on the area and are assiduously working to free individuals buried beneath the snow.

Also, An army helicopter, a group of medical professionals, ambulances, and more rescue squads sent to the region to help with the rescue operations.

Khalid Khurshid Khan, the chief minister of GB, expresses his sorrow and calls for swift rescue efforts.

He has ordered local authorities to launch rescue efforts without delay after expressing heartfelt sorrow over the tragic tragedy.

He stressed the need of using all available resources to rescue people trapped beneath the snow and debris when instructing the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), Rescue 1122, and other pertinent authorities.

The chief minister has additionally exhorted the relevant authorities to take all required actions for a thorough search and rescue effort.
