Army Chief, DG ISI meet PM Khan to discuss his 3-day visit to China in Feb 2022

PM Khan is scheduled to visit China in the first week of February 2022 to further bolster bilateral ties.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Director General of ISI Lt-Gen. Nadeem Ahmed Anjum held an important meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to discuss his upcoming visit to China in Feb 2022.

PM Khan is scheduled to visit China in the first week of February 2022 to further bolster bilateral ties.

The prime minister will be embarking on a three-day visit to China next month where he is scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games to be held in Beijing. Prime Minister Imran Khan is attending this upcoming event on the invitation of Chinese leadership.

The prime minister will be accompanied by a five-member delegation, including the foreign minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

According to sources, during his visit to China, PM Khan will have a bilateral interaction with the Chinese leadership, with focus on advancing economic and trade relations. The two sides will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The prime minister has also directed five federal ministers accompanying him to China to finalize homework for the all-important China tour. He has also advised federal ministers to observe Covid-19 precautions ahead of the China visit.

On Jan 13 Foreign Office spokesperson Asim Iftikhar disclosed that said Prime Minister Khan will visit China next month where he will meet Chinese leaders to further strengthen Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperation and to exchange views on regional and international issues.

Pakistan and China are strong development partners and we look forward to further strengthen this partnership under China’s Global Development Initiative, he added.
