The shooting took place on Canal Road, leaving Javed Butt dead and his wife injured. The police arrived at the scene, and the injured woman was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Ahsan Shah Killed in ‘Crossfire’
Earlier, a few days ago, Ahsan Shah, a close friend of Ameer Balaj and an accused in the case, has been murdered in a crossfire incident. The incident occurred when a police party took him to recover weapons related to the case.
Following Ahsan Shah’s murder, his mother, wife, and other family members, along with friends, accused the police of murdering Shah, raising their voices in protest.
Ameer Balaj murder
In February, Ameer Balaj Tipu, the son of Arif Ameer, also known as Tipu Truckanwala, was killed in an alleged targeted shooting in Lahore’s Chuhng area. Balaj, in his early 30s, was attending a wedding ceremony in a residential society in Chuhng when an armed man opened fire on him, critically injuring him.
Three other men accompanying Balaj were also injured in the attack. In the ensuing exchange of fire, Balaj’s gunmen shot and killed the assailant. All four injured individuals were taken to Jinnah Hospital, where Balaj succumbed to his injuries. Reports indicated that he suffered four bullet wounds to his chest and died from excessive bleeding.
Given the long-standing enmities involving Balaj’s family, a heavy police presence, including senior officers, was deployed at the hospital to prevent any potential clashes.
