A woman from Lincolnshire applied for her dream job but never received a response—until 48 years later.
Tizi Hodson, a resident of Gedney Hill, was having an ordinary day when she opened her mail to find the original application letter she had sent in 1976 for a job as a motorcycle stunt rider. The letter had been stuck behind a drawer at a post office for nearly five decades, according to the BBC.
Fortunately, the delay didn’t stop Hodson from leading an adventurous life. She eventually found a job that took her around the world. However, receiving the letter after so many years still left her astonished.
“I always wondered why I never heard back about the job. Now I know why,” she said.
The letter arrived with a handwritten note, saying, “Late delivery by Staines Post Office. Found behind a drawer. Only about 50 years late.”
Curiously, Hodson revealed that she has moved houses around 50 times, even relocating to different countries four or five times over the past 48 years. How the letter finally reached her remains a mystery to her.
She expressed that receiving the letter after all this time “means so much” to her, bringing back memories of typing it in her London apartment almost half a century ago.
