In Tangi Tehsil of Charsadda, police apprehended a 72-year-old man for marrying a 13-year-old girl in Ziarat village. The arrest occurred during a raid on the wedding ceremony, where the driver and another accomplice were also detained.
Acting on a tip-off, authorities, assisted by the ladies’ police force, raided the ceremony. They rescued the young bride, who was found in her wedding attire inside a car. She has been placed in protective custody and transferred to Darul Aman, a shelter for distressed women.
According to police reports, the girl’s father allegedly accepted money in exchange for marrying off his daughter to the elderly man. However, amidst the chaos of the raid, the father managed to escape from the scene.
