Electric Wheelchairs
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced a significant initiative aimed at improving mobility for differently-abled individuals in the province. The scheme will provide electric wheelchairs to persons with disabilities, enhancing their independence and access to various opportunities.
Under this initiative, all individuals with disabilities will be eligible to receive an electric wheelchair, a move that is expected to make a substantial difference in their daily lives.
In the first phase of the project, the provincial government will focus on students with disabilities enrolled in government higher education institutions. This priority approach will ensure that the most vulnerable and deserving members of the community are the first to benefit from the scheme.
To ensure a smooth and transparent distribution process, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has set up an online registration system.
A dedicated form will be available for applicants, allowing individuals to provide all necessary information and documentation for the delivery of the wheelchairs. This step will facilitate efficient processing and ensure that the resources are allocated to those who truly need them.
The spokesperson for CM Gandapur explained that the initiative aims to meet the mobility needs of differently-abled individuals, which can be a barrier to education, employment, and social participation.
The provision of electric wheelchairs is seen as a crucial step in ensuring that people with disabilities can fully participate in various aspects of life, whether in education, work, or community activities.
This move is part of a broader effort by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to improve the quality of life for differently-abled people and create a more inclusive society.
By focusing on education first, the government is ensuring that students have the support they need to pursue their studies without facing mobility-related challenges.
With this initiative, KP is taking a notable step toward greater inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities, showing a strong commitment to providing equal opportunities for all its citizens, regardless of physical limitations.
The project is expected to gain momentum as more phases are introduced, expanding the reach of the program across the province.
