Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif did not include any discussion about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. He clarified that the PTI leaderโs issues never came up during the meeting.
Afridi explained that his hour-long discussion focused on Khyber Pakhtunkhwaโs Rs26 billion financial dues. Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif promised to review the matter and issue instructions to resolve it.
He added that the meeting remained strictly official. โIf the meeting had been political, I would not have joined,โ Afridi said, responding to speculation about political agendas.
Need for Federal-Provincial Cooperation
Afridi stressed the importance of strong communication and cooperation between the federal and provincial governments. He said both sides must coordinate smoothly to tackle financial and security challenges in the province.
Furthermore, he said the provincial government will continue working to ensure public welfare while strictly following constitutional limits. โWe commit to working within the law and protecting public interests,โ he added.
He also pointed out that unresolved financial issues have slowed some development projects. Therefore, Afridi urged federal authorities to release pending dues quickly. He emphasized that timely funding ensures ongoing projects continue without delays.
Financial Stability Critical for Development
Afridi noted that financial stability plays a key role in running welfare programs and maintaining security. In addition, he said provincial and federal governments must work together to improve administrative efficiency.
Moreover, he said consistent support strengthens development initiatives and boosts citizensโ trust in the government.
Provincial Government Committed to Public Welfare
The chief minister reassured citizens that the provincial government focuses on public welfare and development projects. He said the government will prioritize healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
Additionally, Afridi highlighted that his administration actively maintains law and order, improves service delivery, and strengthens governance systems. โWe aim to serve the people while staying within constitutional boundaries,โ he said.
Finally, he concluded that all official meetings with the federal government will remain professional. He rejected claims linking the discussions to political agendas or PTI leadership.
