Tel Aviv: The budget session in progress in the Israeli legislative assembly Knesset was interrupted Sunday night over alert sirens signaling likely impact of the Iranian warheads. It may be pointed out that the few hours ago the IDF targeted the electric power infrastructures in Tehran. Due to reported strikes, there has been partial power outage in Tehran, including the central districts where night time demonstration in support of the political system are the regular feature. As per the reports, the suburban town of Karaj is also facing power outage.
It is pertinent to note here that Tehran has warned all the stakeholders in the region including Israel that if civilian use power infrastructures are targeted, there will be reciprocal attacks on matching infrastructure in these states. it is worthy to note here that during the last one month similar sessions have been adjourned as alert sirens blurred out in the centralized system, prompting the members to leave the premises.
These days, the budget session is in progress with the Netanyahu government trying to get through an increased spending of defence due to the month old Iran campaign. Given the fact that the Israeli state is a prime recipient of budgetary support from the United States, the formal passage of budget at the Knesset is a formality, lacking any genuine debate at the end.
