Khyber Medical University (KMU) has officially released the MDCAT 2025 results, revealing a challenging year for medical aspirants. According to university data, only 53 percent of candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa qualified for admission to MBBS programs.
The results highlight the difficulty level of this year’s exam, with only 2 percent of test-takers managing to score above 170 marks. A further 9 percent achieved scores between 160 and 170, while a significant portion of students struggled to meet the minimum passing criteria.
Nearly One-Third Fail to Reach Minimum Score
University officials reported that 31 percent of students failed to secure even 90 marks — the threshold required for eligibility in medical or dental college admissions. The low performance trend indicates the growing competitiveness of Pakistan’s medical entry tests and the need for stronger academic preparation.
The MDCAT, considered one of the most competitive exams in Pakistan, evaluates students seeking admission to MBBS and BDS programs. Despite efforts to simplify the structure, many students found this year’s paper particularly demanding.
Thousands Skip MDCAT 2025 Exam
Adding to the statistics, KMU disclosed that 1,539 registered candidates did not appear for the MDCAT 2025 examination. The reasons for the absences were not specified but could include travel difficulties or lack of preparation.
University authorities emphasized that the test was conducted transparently across multiple centers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following strict examination protocols to ensure fairness and integrity.
What These Results Mean for Future Medical Students
The latest MDCAT results serve as a wake-up call for future applicants, highlighting the need for consistent preparation and a strategic study approach. With only a small percentage of students achieving high scores, competition for medical college seats remains fierce across Pakistan.
Experts suggest that students focus on strengthening conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization to perform better in upcoming examinations.
