Today, the nation will observe Kashmir Solidarity Day with a renewed pledge to support the rightful struggle of Kashmiris for their inherent right to self-determination, as outlined in the pertinent resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Every year, the people and government of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir mark Solidarity Day to reaffirm their solidarity with the people of India-held Jammu and Kashmir and to express their unwavering dedication to liberating Kashmir from Indian domination.
Individuals from various spheres of life will organize demonstrations and create human chains across the country to invigorate the Kashmiri cause, which has endured for decades.
President Dr. Arif Alvi and caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, in their respective messages ahead of Kashmir Solidarity Day, reiterated the nation’s steadfast support for the Kashmir cause and the inhabitants of India-held Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Alvi emphasized that self-determination is a fundamental principle of international law, yet unfortunately, Kashmiris have been deprived of this inherent right. He highlighted the highly militarized state of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where Kashmiris live under constant fear and intimidation.
The president condemned the indiscriminate use of force by Indian occupation forces against civilians and political activists, along with arbitrary detentions and property confiscations targeting human rights defenders.
Dr. Alvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Kashmiri people until they achieve their right to self-determination, as guaranteed in relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
In his message, PM Kakar denounced India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, in held Kashmir, as clear violations of international law, including the UN Charter, the 4th Geneva Convention, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
He criticized India’s ongoing efforts to solidify these illegal measures, aiming to alter the demographic and political landscape of IIOJK.
Prime Minister Kakar highlighted Kashmir Solidarity Day as an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made by Kashmiri brethren over the past 76 years. He reiterated Pakistan’s stance that a lasting resolution to the Kashmir dispute can only be achieved in line with relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Pakistan pledges to continue extending its steadfast moral, diplomatic, and political support for this just cause, the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing stated in a press release.
