Kashmir Committee
LONDON: Chairman of the Kashmir Committee, Rana Qasim Noon, has called upon the United Kingdom to adopt a more assertive and principled stance on the Kashmir issue, similar to the approach taken by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In an exclusive interview during his ongoing visit to the United Kingdom, Rana Noon emphasized that it was time for the British government to move beyond cautious diplomatic language and publicly condemn the human rights violations taking place in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Rana Noon is currently leading a multi-party parliamentary delegation to the UK with the aim of raising international awareness about the plight of the Kashmiri people. He noted that the people of Pakistan, Kashmir, and human rights advocates around the world deeply appreciated Donald Trump for acknowledging Kashmir as an international dispute rather than a domestic Indian issue.
“President Trump’s recognition of Kashmir’s international status is a historic and bold move. It highlights a long-standing reality that the world must not ignore. The UK government, while it has raised concerns about rights abuses in Kashmir, must go further. It must take a firm and public stand like Trump did,” said Rana Noon.
The delegation, representing various political parties from Pakistan, has been engaging with UK parliamentarians to present detailed accounts of the situation in Kashmir.
According to Rana Noon, they have informed British lawmakers of what they described as India’s systematic genocide of Kashmiris, carried out under the cover of fabricated narratives like the recent false-flag Pahalgam attack. He asserted that India used this incident as a pretext to initiate unprovoked aggression against Pakistan.
He lauded Pakistan’s civil and military leadership for showing restraint in the face of aggression and responding only after continued escalation by India. “Pakistan acted in self-defense to protect its sovereignty and to prevent a broader regional conflict. Our nation has set a global example of responsible diplomacy and peace-building,” he added.
Rana Noon underscored that peace in South Asia is unattainable without a just resolution to the Kashmir dispute. He described the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India as a face of the extremist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), claiming that India’s actions represent state-sponsored terrorism.
He also criticized India’s recent unilateral move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it an act of “hydro-terrorism” aimed at economically strangling Pakistan. “Such aggressive actions are not just provocations against Pakistan but violations of international law,” he stated.
Rana Noon thanked the international community, particularly the United States under Trump, for supporting the ceasefire agreement and showing solidarity with the Kashmiri cause. He went on to accuse India of supporting extremist elements in the region, including factions of the Taliban in Afghanistan.
“The world must now recognize the true nature of the Indian state under Modi’s regime,” he concluded. “Only then can we begin to move toward genuine peace and justice in South Asia.”
