KARACHI โ Authorities placed Karachi Central Jail on high alert and deployed a heavy contingent of police and Rangers around the facility, officials said on Saturday. The move comes amid a tense security environment and aims to maintain law and order in the area.
Police removed vehicles parked near the jail as part of precautionary measures. Officials said the enhanced deployment seeks to prevent any untoward incident and ensure strict monitoring of movement around the prison.
Moreover, security personnel increased patrols and tightened surveillance in surrounding neighborhoods. Law enforcement agencies continue to assess the situation and remain vigilant in response to potential threats.
Separately, police conducted raids in Sohrab Goth and Defence, detaining more than 25 Afghan nationals allegedly residing in the country illegally. According to officials, authorities arrested over 20 individuals in Sohrab Goth and transferred them to a local police station for further processing.
In addition, officers detained four individuals in the Defence area during targeted operations. Authorities said the actions form part of an ongoing campaign against illegal residents.
Furthermore, police stated that they are verifying documentation and legal status of those detained. Officials emphasized that the operations aim to strengthen internal security and enforce immigration laws.
Law enforcement agencies continue coordinated efforts across Karachi to maintain stability. Meanwhile, officials urged residents to cooperate with authorities and report suspicious activities to help ensure public safety during the heightened security phase.
