KARACHI — Authorities placed Karachi Central Jail on high alert and deployed a heavy contingent of police and Rangers around the facility, officials said on Saturday. The move comes amid a tense security environment and aims to maintain law and order in the area.

Separately, police conducted raids in Sohrab Goth and Defence, detaining more than 25 Afghan nationals allegedly residing in the country illegally. According to officials, authorities arrested over 20 individuals in Sohrab Goth and transferred them to a local police station for further processing.
In addition, officers detained four individuals in the Defence area during targeted operations. Authorities said the actions form part of an ongoing campaign against illegal residents.
