A horrifying case has emerged from Memon Goth, Karachi, where a private hospital allegedly sold a newborn baby after taking the child from the mother who could not pay her medical bills.
According to police officials, the hospital administration seized the baby when the mother failed to settle her delivery expenses and later sold the infant in Punjab.
SSP Malir Abdul Khaliq Pirzada confirmed that a case has been registered on the complaint of the baby’s father. The police have since recovered the newborn and sealed the hospital involved in the crime.
Authorities identified Dr. Zahra and a woman named Shama Baloch as the main suspects. Both are currently on the run.
Investigations revealed that Shama Baloch, an employee of the hospital, worked with Dr. Zahra to sell the newborn. The FIR stated that Dr. Zahra deceived the mother by saying a woman who “helps the poor and raises their children” would cover her expenses.
Following this, Shama allegedly paid the hospital bill and was handed the baby immediately after birth. She then disappeared with the child, prompting the father to approach the police.
Law enforcement teams are conducting multiple raids to arrest the fugitives and uncover the full extent of the child trafficking operation.
The shocking revelation has sparked public outrage, with citizens demanding strict action against those responsible and tighter oversight of private hospitals in the city.
