KARACHI: Karachi continues to face severe cold weather as temperatures drop sharply across multiple areas of the city. Residents reported an intense chill overnight, while official data confirmed a significant fall in mercury levels.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department recorded a minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius at Jinnah Terminal. In addition, Gadap and Bahria Townโs Sports City experienced even lower temperatures, intensifying discomfort for residents.
The Met Office reported that the cityโs overall minimum temperature stood at 8.1ยฐC. However, variations appeared across districts. Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Shahrah-e-Faisal recorded a minimum of 9ยฐC, while Mauripur reported 10ยฐC and Bin Qasim registered 10.5ยฐC. Consequently, many residents adjusted daily routines, with early-morning commuters taking extra precautions against the cold.
Dry weather expected with moderate daytime temperatures
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather conditions for the next 24 hours. Officials said cold conditions will persist during nighttime and early morning hours. The department expects minimum temperatures to range between 8ยฐC and 10ยฐC, while daytime temperatures may rise to a maximum of 24ยฐC. Therefore, residents can expect chilly mornings followed by relatively milder afternoons.
Weather experts advised citizens to remain cautious, especially the elderly, children and people with respiratory conditions. Moreover, health professionals continue to recommend warm clothing and adequate hydration to avoid seasonal illnesses linked to cold exposure.
Humidity levels remain moderate as cold winds blow
According to the latest PMD update, humidity levels in Karachi currently stand at 44 percent. Northeasterly winds are blowing at a speed of 7 kilometres per hour, which is further contributing to the chill factor. As a result, the perceived temperature feels lower than actual readings in several parts of the city.
Meteorologists stated that winter conditions may persist over the coming days. Therefore, residents should stay informed through official weather updates and plan outdoor activities accordingly to reduce health risks.
