Quintuplets
KARACHI: A couple from Karachi’s Baldia Town has welcomed quintuplets—three girls and two boys—delivered prematurely through an emergency C-section at a private hospital.
Doctors confirmed that all five babies were born several weeks ahead of schedule, resulting in critical health challenges. The newborns are severely underweight and suffered from breathing difficulties immediately after birth. They remain in intensive care under constant medical observation.
Speaking to Samaa TV, the father, Adnan Sheikh, expressed a mix of joy and concern. “I got married only a year ago, and this is our first childbirth. We are deeply thankful for this blessing, but the medical expenses are overwhelming,” he said, appealing to the public and government for financial help.
The hospital administration noted a slight improvement in the babies’ condition but emphasized the need for ongoing intensive care to ensure their survival and recovery.
“I never imagined being blessed with five children at once,” Adnan added. “All I want now is for them to survive and grow up healthy.”
PIA staffer arrested
In a separate development, a PIA A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) staffer has been arrested for stealing a female passenger’s luggage at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident occurred after Flight PK-305 from Lahore landed in Karachi, where a female passenger reported her bag missing to airport authorities. According to airport sources, the suspect—identified as Tariq Ali from PIA’s engineering department—was taken into custody following a brief scuffle with security personnel.
“With the cooperation of the Karachi Airport administration, the stolen bag containing the passenger’s belongings was successfully recovered,” a senior official familiar with the situation said.
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has handed over the accused to the Airport Security Force (ASF), which is now leading the investigation. Authorities also confirmed that Tariq Ali’s airport entry pass has been revoked pending the outcome of the inquiry.
In addition, PIA has launched an internal probe into the matter, while the ASF is expected to submit a preliminary investigation report in the coming days.
