The city is set to experience another spell of cold weather, with temperatures expected to drop between 11°C and 14°C tonight, according to a meteorological analyst.
The analyst noted that the wind direction in the port city has shifted, now blowing from the northwest. This change has also led to a decrease in humidity levels.
Last week, weather experts had forecast warmer daytime temperatures ranging between 26°C and 28°C, while nighttime temperatures were expected to drop to 11°C to 13°C.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had previously predicted that Karachi would experience cold and dry weather, with minimum temperatures ranging between 9°C and 11°C on January 26.
According to the PMD, humidity levels were expected to remain around 41%, with northeastern winds blowing at a speed of 11 kilometers per hour.
The department also reported that Pakistan received 40% less rainfall than usual between September 1, 2024, and January 15, 2025, with Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab being the most affected regions. Rainfall deficits in these provinces were recorded at 52%, 45%, and 42%, respectively. The dry conditions have particularly impacted rain-fed areas, exacerbating drought concerns.
