ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has successfully conducted a test flight of its first-ever air ambulance service, utilizing an MI-17 helicopter that will be converted for emergency medical evacuations.
Health Advisor Ihtisham Ali participated in the test flight and was briefed on the conversion process of the Russia-made MI-17 military helicopter into an air ambulance, with modifications and medical equipment being added to meet international standards.
Ali confirmed that the provincial government, under the directive of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, is adapting the helicopter to serve the publicโs emergency medical needs. The air ambulance service will be free of charge for the public, as the helicopter is owned by the provincial government. It aims to provide high-quality, efficient medical emergency services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
