As protests by lawyers continue outside the Supreme Court over judicial appointments and the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the Judicial Commission, chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, convened to discuss the appointment of eight new judges.
Sources confirmed that Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Muneeb Akhtar chose to boycott the meeting, which is reviewing candidates from various high courts for Supreme Court appointments.
In response to the unrest, heightened security measures have been deployed around the Supreme Court building, with DIG Security Ali Raza overseeing the safety arrangements.
