ISLAMABAD: Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb took oath on Monday as a judge of the Supreme Court. The ceremony took place at the Supreme Court in Islamabad. Senior judicial figures attend the ceremony
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar also attended the event. Federal Constitutional Court Justice K.K. Agha and Federal Shariat Court Chief Justice Iqbal Hameed ur Rehman were present as well. Members of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan joined the gathering. Advocate Ahsan Bhoon was among the commission members who witnessed the oath.
Supreme Court officers, staff and other invited participants were also in attendance. Officials said their presence demonstrated institutional support for the newly appointed judge. The Chief Justice and other judges congratulated Justice Aurangzeb on assuming his new responsibilities. They also expressed confidence in his commitment to judicial principles.
Judicial Commission approved elevation last week
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan elevated Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb to the Supreme Court last week. The commission, which appoints judges to the superior judiciary, approved his elevation after detailed deliberations. The meeting took place under the leadership of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.
The session marked the first meeting of the commission after the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The amendment created the Federal Constitutional Court, which now functions alongside other superior courts. Officials said the commission’s decisions aim to strengthen the judiciary and support constitutional reforms.
