LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s son, Junaid Safdar, is preparing for a second marriage following the finalization of a proposed match between two prominent political families. According to sources, his future bride is the granddaughter of senior PML-N leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar and the daughter of Ali Rohail Asghar.
The development marks a union that further strengthens ties within the PML-N’s longstanding political network.
Family Approval and Preparations
Insiders say that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, along with senior members of the Sharif family, has formally approved the marriage. A preliminary gathering between both families has already taken place, signaling the beginning of wedding preparations. MM News TV reported this breaking news today.
While the exact date has not been finalized, the wedding is expected to be held either in the last week of December or in January.
Background: Junaid Safdar’s Previous Marriage
This will be Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. He previously married Ayesha Saif, daughter of former NAB chairman and Qatar-based businessman Saifur Rahman Khan. The couple tied the knot in 2021 at The Lanesborough in Knightsbridge, London, during Nawaz Sharif’s period of exile.
The marriage ended amicably, and the divorce was finalized in October 2023.
Significance of the New Union
The forthcoming marriage is being viewed not only as a personal milestone for Junaid Safdar but also as a symbolic strengthening of ties between influential political households within the PML-N sphere. With family consultations underway and political observers taking note, the event is expected to attract considerable media attention once dates are confirmed.
