BATKHELA, MALAKAND โ A devastating shooting incident at the home of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) district chief, Mufti Kifayatullah, has left two of his children dead and multiple family members seriously injured. The attack, which occurred on Saturday, sent shockwaves through the region and sparked a high-level investigation by local authorities.
According to Levies officials, the tragic event unfolded at Mufti Kifayatullah’s residence in Batkhela, where gunfire erupted unexpectedly. Police have confirmed that the assailant was none other than Mufti Kifayatullahโs own son, who fled the scene immediately after the shooting. His motives remain unclear as investigations continue.
Family Devastated, Investigation Underway
Following the attack, emergency responders rushed the injuredโincluding Mufti Kifayatullah, his wife, and othersโto District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Batkhela. Hospital sources later confirmed that while the JUI leader had sustained serious injuries, he is currently in stable condition and no longer in critical danger. His wife, however, remains in a serious state and is receiving intensive medical care.
The shooting claimed the lives of Kifayatullahโs son and daughter, both of whom were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Rescue teams acted swiftly to provide aid and manage the situation, but the loss to the family has been immense.
Law enforcement agencies, including local police and Levies, have launched an active search for the accused and are working to determine the motive behind the shocking incident. Statements from hospital officials and surviving family members are being collected to aid in the investigation.
