LONDON: Jemima Goldsmith, former wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has disclosed that she has been forced to block emails from Pakistan due to alleged cyber harassment.
Goldsmith shared this information on her Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts on Friday, attributing the harassment to opponents of her ex-husbandโs party, PTI.
โTo friends in Pakistan trying to reach me legitimately โ Iโve had to block all emails from Pakistan because of a cyber harassment campaign against me, likely orchestrated by PTIโs desperate rivals,โ Goldsmith wrote on X. She also noted that since X is banned in Pakistan by these opponents, only users accessing the platform via VPN will be able to view her post.
Goldsmith, a British film producer, humorously commented, โPakistani politics, the gift that keeps on giving even after leaving the country 20 years ago,โ referring to ongoing social media attacks linked to her previous relationship with Khan. Despite being admired by many, Goldsmith has faced misogynistic and racist criticism from some of Khanโs detractors.
During former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifโs self-imposed exile in London between 2019 and 2023, PML-N supporters staged protests outside the Surrey home of Goldsmithโs mother, with some reports suggesting threats to break into the residence if she did not come outside. This was reportedly in retaliation for PTIโs frequent protests outside Sharifโs residence, Avenfield House.
Goldsmith lived in Pakistan while married to Imran Khan from 1995 to 2004, during which they had two sons, Sulaiman and Kasim.
