Legendary actor Javed Sheikh opened up about his experiences during a special appearance on the Ramazan transmission, revealing his thoughts on Ramadan and his journey through the film industry.
Javed Sheikh, known for his iconic roles, expressed his love for helping others during Ramadan. He emphasized the importance of moderation during the holy month. “Ramazan is about restraint—eating less and avoiding excess. I never overeat at Sehri. I used to have parathas with desi ghee, switched to plain roti, and now I prefer brown bread,” he shared. Reflecting on his memorable role as a stammerer in Na Maloom Afraad, he described it as both unique and challenging, a role he thoroughly enjoyed.
Speaking about his Iftar routine, Sheikh stressed the importance of simplicity and helping others. “Your Iftar table should not be overloaded with food—help others instead. I keep my Iftar light, with tea and fruit chaat rather than a heavy dinner. This keeps me fit.”
When asked about his favorite films, the actor revealed that Jeeva directed by Syed Noor holds a special place in his heart, particularly due to his portrayal of a Pashtun character. He also recalled his villainous role in the Bollywood film Jannat, which remains close to him.
A Subtle Revenge on Emraan Hashmi
During his time on the Jannat shoot in South Africa, Javed Sheikh recalled an incident involving his co-star Emraan Hashmi. “When I first met Emraan Hashmi, he shook my hand but turned his face away carelessly, which upset me,” Sheikh revealed. Later, when the crew suggested that he approach Hashmi for rehearsals, Javed had a different plan. “I made him come to me instead, and that’s how I took my revenge in style,” he added with a smile.
From Setbacks to Stardom
Javed Sheikh also reflected on the challenges he faced throughout his career. “Life is full of ups and downs, but we must face hardships with courage. Never lose hope in difficult times—trust in Allah and move forward.” He shared a personal story of being written off by people in Lahore, who believed his career was over. “They said, ‘Javed Sheikh is finished, his era is over, and he should return to Karachi.’ But instead of giving in to despair or bad habits, I faced the challenges head-on,” he said. “I even had to sell my car and take lifts to Evernew Studios. But Allah’s blessings brought me back to success.”
Javed Sheikh’s journey from setbacks to stardom continues to inspire, reflecting resilience and faith.
