LAHORE: The Information Technology University (ITU), Lahore, held its fifth convocation on Sunday at its main campus on Barki Road, celebrating academic achievements and institutional growth.
During the ceremony, 528 graduates received degrees across 12 academic programmes. The graduating cohort included 367 bachelorโs students, 147 masterโs scholars, and 14 PhD candidates. Additionally, 14 high achievers received gold medals in recognition of outstanding academic performance.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal attended the ceremony as chief guest and addressed students and faculty.
Minister highlights digital vision
In his speech, Ahsan Iqbal said the university was founded as part of a broader vision to promote technological advancement and innovation. He noted that the institution was conceived when the prime minister served as chief minister of Punjab, aiming to build a modern, digitally empowered Pakistan.
He encouraged graduates to contribute to national development through innovation and skills in emerging technologies, stressing the importance of knowledge-driven progress in a competitive global landscape.
Vice chancellor outlines academic expansion
Vice Chancellor Adnan Noor Mian presented the universityโs annual progress report and highlighted key milestones. He announced the launch of new academic programmes, including BS Financial Technology, MS Management and Technology, and MS Cyber Security.
He also pointed to ITUโs growing international research recognition, faculty achievements, and ongoing infrastructure development. According to the vice chancellor, the university continues to expand its academic footprint while strengthening its role as a leading technology-focused institution in Pakistan.
