Pakistan has secured a dedicated job quota from Italy, offering 10,500 employment opportunities for Pakistani workers over the next three years, a major breakthrough in overseas employment.
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis announced that 3,500 Pakistanis will travel to Italy annually, including 1,500 for seasonal work and 2,000 for non-seasonal positions. The structured allocation ensures stable and continuous employment for both skilled and semi-skilled workers across various industries.
Italy has opened opportunities in shipbreaking, hospitality, healthcare, and agriculture. Pakistani workers will be employed as welders, technicians, chefs, waiters, housekeeping staff, nurses, medical technicians, and agricultural workers, reflecting high demand for Pakistanโs workforce in Europe.
Officials noted that Italy is the first European country to formally allocate a dedicated job quota for Pakistan, marking a historic milestone. This agreement is expected to pave the way for similar arrangements with other European nations.
To strengthen bilateral cooperation, the second meeting of the Pakistan-Italy Joint Working Group is scheduled in Islamabad in February 2026. The meeting will review the progress of the current quota, explore additional employment avenues, and expand collaboration between the two countries.
Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain welcomed the development, calling it an important milestone for Pakistanโs overseas workforce. He highlighted the governmentโs ongoing efforts to provide decent and legal employment opportunities for Pakistani workers globally.
Chaudhry Salik emphasized the role of overseas Pakistanis as ambassadors of the country, contributing significantly to the national economy through remittances and international representation. He expressed optimism that other European countries will follow Italyโs example and open more employment opportunities for Pakistanis.
The arrangement is expected to benefit thousands of Pakistani workers, enhance labor mobility, and strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Italy, while ensuring legal and structured employment pathways for overseas workers
