Israeli Strikes
At least 78 civilians have been confirmed dead and over 325 injured following a series of devastating Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory overnight, according to Iranian state media.
The coordinated military assault, which struck multiple cities across the country, represents one of the deadliest and most expansive aerial operations in recent memory, drastically escalating regional tensions.
The Iranian Ministry of Health reported that the majority of civilian casualties occurred in the capital, Tehran. Hospitals across the city have declared a state of emergency, with medical personnel mobilized on a war footing.
Emergency teams are working around the clock at field and public hospitals to treat hundreds of wounded civilians, as well as military personnel affected by the strikes.
The strikes reportedly involved Israeli fighter jets, long-range missiles, and drone swarms targeting a wide range of strategic sites. Cities hit in the operation include Tehran, Qom, Isfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz, Urmia, Maragheh, Ahvaz, and Natanzโmany of which are home to military facilities, nuclear research centers, and ballistic missile production complexes.
Tehran, in particular, suffered the most damage, with precision-guided munitions hitting several high-value targets. Among the dead are reported to be high-ranking members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including commander-in-chief General Hossein Salami and Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani.
Iranian media also claimed the death of senior nuclear advisor to the Supreme Leader, Ali Shamkhani, and six nuclear scientists. These claims, while not yet independently verified, suggest the Israeli operation was designed to decapitate Iranโs strategic command and disrupt its nuclear capabilities.
Iranian authorities have yet to release a comprehensive list of victims, but initial statements confirm more than 50 people were injured during the first waves of the attack. Many of the wounded are in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could rise significantly in the coming days.
Israel has not officially acknowledged the civilian casualties but has described the operation as a โpre-emptive strikeโ aimed at neutralizing what it called an imminent threat from Iranโs nuclear and military infrastructure. International reactions are beginning to pour in, with global powers urging restraint and warning that the conflict risks spiraling into a broader regional war.
