Medics Report 15 Dead Near US-Backed GHF Aid Facility; Dozens Killed Across Strip
GAZA : At least 35 Palestinians were killed across the Gaza Strip on Saturday by Israeli fire and airstrikes, with a significant number of casualties occurring near an aid distribution site operated by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), according to local health officials.
Medical personnel at Al Awda and Al Aqsa hospitals reported that at least 15 people were killed as they attempted to approach the GHF aid center near the Netzarim corridor in central Gaza. The remaining fatalities occurred in separate incidents across the enclave.
There has been no immediate response from the Israeli military or the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation regarding the reported deaths.
The GHF, which began distributing food packages in Gaza at the end of May, is implementing a new aid delivery model. However, the United Nations has raised concerns about the initiative, stating it lacks neutrality and impartiality.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 274 people have been killed and over 2,000 wounded near aid distribution sites since the GHF began its operations.
Hamas, which denies Israeli allegations of diverting humanitarian aid, accused Israel of โusing hunger as a weapon of war and turning aid distribution points into death traps for innocent civilians.โ
Tensions continue to rise as humanitarian conditions in Gaza worsen amid ongoing military operations and growing international concern over civilian safety and access to aid.
