GAZA: Israeli forces shelled several areas in eastern Gaza and demolished buildings on Wednesday, in fresh violations of the ceasefire that has been in place since October 10, 2025.
Witnesses and local sources said the attacks were concentrated in areas under Israeli control in the east, where shelling has become noticeably more intense in recent weeks.
Israel still occupies around 53 percent of Gazaโs eastern territory.
Attacks in Khan Younis and Central Gaza
In southern Gazaโs Khan Younis, Israeli forces carried out three separate demolition operations targeting buildings and facilities in the eastern part of the city. Shelling also hit the areas of Bani Suheila, Sheikh Nasser, Tahliya, Qizan Rashwan, and Qizan al-Najjar. Witnesses reported seeing Israeli forces fire illumination flares over the eastern areas.
In central Gaza, artillery strikes targeted the eastern parts of Bureij refugee camp and Deir al-Balah.
In northern Gaza, shelling and gunfire continued towards eastern Gaza City and other parts of the north. Israeli forces also demolished several buildings east of the Tuffah neighbourhood. Strikes were reported in the eastern areas of Zeitoun, Shujaiya, Tuffah, and Jabalia.
Israeli naval vessels fired towards tents housing displaced Palestinians along the coast of Gaza City and northern Gaza.
Heavy Toll Since Ceasefire
According to Gazaโs Health Ministry, Israeli violations of the ceasefire have so far killed 713 Palestinians and injured 1,940 others.
The ceasefire was supposed to end a two-year conflict that killed more than 72,000 Palestinians, wounded 172,000, and destroyed around 90 percent of civilian infrastructure. The United Nations estimates the cost of rebuilding Gaza at nearly $70 billion.
