JERUSALEM/TEHRAN: Israel has claimed responsibility for the targeted killing of a senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), further intensifying tensions amid a volatile regional security climate.
According to reports from Israeli media citing military sources, Amin Pourjodki — also referred to as Amin For Judkhi — was killed in an airstrike carried out by the Israeli Air Force. Pourjodki was reportedly the commander of the IRGC’s second unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) unit within its Aerospace Force.
The airstrike reportedly took place on Saturday, though Israeli authorities have not disclosed the exact location or additional operational details.
Israeli defense officials described Pourjodki as a central figure in Iran’s drone warfare program, alleging that he was responsible for coordinating UAV operations and supplying drone technology to Iranian-aligned groups across the Middle East.
“The IDF confirms the elimination of Amin Pourjodki, a senior operative and commander within the IRGC’s Aerospace Force,” an Israeli official told local media. “He played a key role in orchestrating drone attacks and in the transfer of UAV capabilities to regional proxies.”
As of now, Iranian officials have not confirmed Pourjodki’s death, and there has been no formal response from Tehran.
The reported strike comes amid heightened regional instability, with escalating confrontations between Israel and Iran-aligned groups across multiple fronts.
