ISLAMABAD: Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar today termed misleading the Indian Chief of Army Staff’s claim that the ceasefire along the Line of Control is holding because they negotiated from a “position of strength”.
DG ISPR said, “It was agreed only due to Pakistan’s concerns for the safety of the people of Kashmir living on both sides of the LoC.”

Pakistan army spokesman issued this statement in response to a comment by India’s top military commander who tried to get false credit for maintaining a year-long ceasefire along the LoC.
Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukhand Narvane said on Thursday (Feb 3) that ceasefire with Pakistan continued to hold for a year as we negotiated from a position of strength.
However, the DG ISPR rejected the claim as baseless saying no side should misconstrue it as their strength and other’s weakness.
The director-generals of military operations of India and Pakistan, after reviewing the situation along the LOC and all other sectors, agreed to re-enforce the ceasefire since Feb 25, 2021.
The two DGs of military operations had made hotline contact in the interest of achieving “mutually beneficial and sustainable peace. Both the sides decided to follow agreements and cease firing along the LOC and all other sectors.
