Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) has firmly rejected recent claims suggesting that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) gave an interview to any journalist. The spokesperson clarified that no such interaction ever took place, directly dismissing the assertions made in a column written by journalist Suhail Warraich.
According to DG ISPR, the Brussels event being referenced in the column was purely diplomatic in nature. There was neither any discussion regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nor mention of an apology, contrary to what has been portrayed. The military’s media wing termed this as nothing more than a journalist’s attempt to gain personal publicity and attention through fabricated claims.
Emphasizing the importance of accountability, the spokesperson stated, “Whoever indulges in unlawful actions will have to face the consequences of law.” He underscored that institutions must act with wisdom and restraint in dealing with such sensitive matters. At the same time, the DG ISPR urged media professionals to recognize their responsibility in shaping public discourse, warning that irresponsible reporting only damages the credibility of journalism itself.
“It is deeply regrettable that even senior journalists have demonstrated such negligence,” he added, calling it unprofessional and unethical to publish unverified narratives. The military institution, he stressed, is a responsible body that operates with discipline and integrity.
Turning to external security concerns, the DG ISPR said India had assumed that after extensive planning, any aggressive action would discredit Pakistan’s armed forces. However, the reality proved otherwise. In response to Indian provocations, Pakistan’s robust countermeasures not only foiled those designs but also exposed India’s proxies, leaving their credibility in tatters. He noted that Pakistan’s resolute response demonstrated the professionalism and preparedness of its armed forces while simultaneously discrediting New Delhi’s own narratives at home and abroad.
The military reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and standing firm against hybrid tactics designed to malign the country. At the same time, it reminded media circles to act responsibly and avoid becoming tools in spreading misinformation for personal or external agendas.
