The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has launched a new “Online E-Learners Permit” app, allowing residents to apply for learner driving permits from the convenience of their homes.
Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Hamzah Humayun described the initiative in a video statement on X as a major step toward digital facilitation. He emphasized that the service is designed for public convenience, enabling citizens to complete the entire learner permit process online without visiting offices. Instructions and guidelines for using the app are available on the Islamabad Police website and Facebook page.
Applications can be submitted through the official portal at dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk.
The chief traffic officer urged the public to take full advantage of the service and help make the app a success, stressing that it reflects the police’s commitment to providing facilitation with convenience.
In parallel, Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi recently extended the deadline for obtaining valid driving licenses.
Citizens now have until October 7, 2025, to secure their licenses, after which strict enforcement will begin on October 8. Drivers found without a valid license may face legal action, including arrest and vehicle impoundment.
Authorities explained that the extension was provided to accommodate the high number of applicants, and special service desks have been set up across Islamabad to handle the demand efficiently.
Earlier in June, under directives from IG Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police launched a strict enforcement crackdown aimed at ensuring adherence to traffic laws and maintaining road safety across the city.
The new digital initiative complements these efforts by streamlining the application process for learner permits, reducing congestion at offices, and making compliance easier for citizens.
This digital transition demonstrates Islamabad Traffic Police’s commitment to modernizing services while promoting road safety and regulatory compliance, providing citizens with both convenience and clarity in fulfilling their legal obligations.
