The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has introduced a temporary diversion plan for Shaheen Chowk on Margalla Road to facilitate ongoing construction work. The plan aims to manage heavy traffic during evening rush hours and will remain in effect daily from 4 pm to 7 pm.
According to the ITP, several alternative routes have been identified to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles in and around the construction area. The initiative is part of efforts to maintain safe and efficient traffic flow while infrastructure work continues in the capital.
Alternative Routes for Motorists
Motorists traveling from E-11 and DCI Road are advised to use the F-10 Service Road via Jinnah Avenue as an alternative route. This adjustment is designed to minimize congestion near Shaheen Chowk and adjacent intersections.
Similarly, commuters driving from Ninth Avenue toward Margalla Road are instructed to take a right turn from F-9 Park Gate 5 and proceed through F-8 Park Road. The route adjustment will help distribute traffic more evenly across the nearby road network.
Drivers heading from Margalla Road toward F-10 can either turn left from Faisal Chowk to access Jinnah Avenue or use PN Zafar Chowk, located near Ali Medical Center in F-8. Both routes provide easier access to Jinnah Avenue and Ninth Avenue while bypassing the construction zone.
Traffic Officers Deployed for Assistance
The ITP has stationed officers at critical points to guide motorists and manage the traffic flow effectively. The deployment aims to prevent gridlocks during peak evening hours and assist drivers in navigating alternate routes.
Officials have urged commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow the diversion instructions to ensure smooth movement. The department acknowledged that temporary inconvenience is expected but emphasized that these measures are essential for public safety and long-term road improvement.
Citizens Advised to Stay Updated
Citizens are encouraged to contact the ITP helplines Pucar-15 or 1915 for real-time traffic updates or in case of emergencies. The department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safety, discipline, and efficient traffic management throughout Islamabad during the construction phase.
Ensuring Smooth Traffic Flow During Development
The traffic diversion plan highlights Islamabad Traffic Police’s proactive approach to maintaining road discipline during infrastructure development. By providing alternate routes and deploying officers strategically, the department aims to reduce congestion, ensure commuter safety, and keep traffic disruptions to a minimum until the completion of the construction work at Shaheen Chowk.
