Islamabad witnessed a murder of a 21-year-old Usama Naeem on Friday night after an anti-terror squad reportedly opened fire on his vehicle.
The young boy was shot on Islamabad’s Srinagar Highway after he allegedly ignored police warnings to stop the car.
As per Islamabad’s Police Spokesperson, the police were cautious after a robbery attack in Shams Colony. After reaching the locality, a “suspicious vehicle” with tinted windows was seen and they asked to pull over. When the driver did not stop, the police shot at its tires after following the vehicle.
“Unfortunately, two bullets hit the driver.”
the spokesperson said.
Usama Naeem’s body was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a post-mortem where it was revealed that he was shot six times — in the chest, back, and head. Moreover, they were fired from in front of the man.
In contrast, Usama’s father while reporting the complaint said that his son was coming back home at 2 am after dropping off a friend.
“My son was shot multiple times. They [anti-terror squad] openly committed terrorism by aiming at the windscreen instead of the tires.”
The grieving father is now demanding the police officers involved to be charged with terrorism. He also mentioned a heated exchange between his son and some police personnel who threatened his son with dire consequences.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Zubair Shaikh, they have filed an FIR under the murder clause and sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Karachi Company Police Station in Islamabad against the five personnel involved in the killing.
