Petition Dismissed Over Non-Prosecution
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed a petition filed by PTI founder Imran Khan against trial court Judge Humayun Dilawar. The decision came on Tuesday, with Justice Azam Khan ruling that the petition was dropped due to non-prosecution.
The court noted that the petitioner failed to pursue the case further. As a result, the IHC concluded there were no grounds to proceed. The dismissal ends Imran Khan’s legal challenge regarding alleged judicial bias.
Allegations of Bias Over Facebook Posts
The original petition was filed in 2023. Imran Khan had claimed that Judge Humayun Dilawar showed bias by posting anti-PTI content on Facebook. The petition argued that the judge’s social media activity raised serious concerns about impartiality.
Khan’s legal team requested that the judge be removed from the Toshakhana criminal case, where the PTI founder had been convicted. Judge Dilawar had sentenced Imran Khan based on a reference filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The petition demanded that the conviction be reviewed and the judge disqualified from future hearings. However, due to the lack of follow-up, the case was dismissed without any ruling on the merits of the allegations.
This development marks another legal setback for the former prime minister, who remains entangled in multiple cases.
