Parliament Session
In an extraordinary moment of diplomatic camaraderie, the Iranian parliament resonated with chants of “Thank you, thank you Pakistan” on Monday, marking a rare and public display of appreciation for Islamabad’s support amid Iran’s escalating tensions with Israel.
The chants erupted following a special session addressed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which he openly praised Pakistan for standing with Iran during a period of heightened conflict in the Middle East.
President Pezeshkian, in his impassioned speech, reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to peaceful nuclear development, declaring that Iran’s nuclear program is rooted in its legitimate rights under international law.
“We extend our hand to all Islamic nations,” Pezeshkian stated firmly. “The enemy is delusional if it believes it can dismantle our nuclear progress by assassinating our scientists.” His remarks were met with resounding support from parliamentarians, who chanted in unison to thank Pakistan, a country that has increasingly expressed diplomatic solidarity with Iran in recent weeks.
The parliamentary session was emotionally charged, with lawmakers paying tribute to Iranian military commanders, soldiers, and nuclear scientists who lost their lives in recent Israeli airstrikes. These casualties, which include several key figures in Iran’s security and nuclear infrastructure, have become rallying points for Iranian national unity and resistance.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf strongly condemned what he described as “barbaric attacks” carried out by Israeli forces. “This is a time for resistance, not retreat,” Qalibaf declared. “The world must understand that Iran will never compromise on its sovereignty or the blood of its martyrs.”
The vocal appreciation for Pakistan comes just days after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif voiced unwavering solidarity with Iran, following a surge in missile exchanges and intensified Israeli strikes. PM Sharif had called for de-escalation in the region but made it clear that “Pakistan stands firmly with the Iranian people in this critical hour.”
This display of mutual support underscores growing ties between the two neighbors, both of whom share deep cultural, religious, and strategic connections. As regional alliances shift in response to ongoing conflicts, the affirmation of friendship between Iran and Pakistan could play a significant role in shaping the broader dynamics of the Muslim world.
The Iranian parliament’s chant of gratitude stands not only as a symbolic gesture but also as a testament to the deepening political and emotional bond between Tehran and Islamabad during a period of profound regional volatility.
