In a shocking turn of events, Israel’s attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) building was caught live on TV. The blast occurred as the presenter was lambasting Israel before she was seen leaving the live broadcast.
Hassan Abedini, a senior official at the broadcasting service, said, “The Zionist regime, the enemy of the Iranian nation, minutes ago conducted a military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran news network.”
Despite the attack, Iran’s state TV resumed live coverage, with Abedini adding, “The regime (Israel) was unaware of the fact that the voice of the Islamic revolution and the great Iran will not be silenced with a military operation.”
The Israeli military confirmed the attack, and Iran’s Mehr news agency posted visuals from the attack on the IRIB building. The attack came shortly after Iranian media reported Israeli airstrikes in a civilian residential neighbourhood in Tehran.
According to Iran’s health ministry, at least 224 people have been killed, including 70 women and children, while over 1,200 have been injured. More than 90% of the wounded were civilians, including women and children.
