Iran is showing optimism while preparing for the next round of its indirect nuclear talks with the US. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Wednesday that the outlook appears positive. He again emphasized that Iran is prepared to continue its diplomatic efforts according to the guidance of the Iranian leadership.
Diplomatic Preparations Escalate
Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, flew to Geneva on Thursday to lead the Iranian team. He was accompanied by senior officials including the Deputy Foreign Minister, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, among others.
Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi is also part of the negotiating team.
US Response and Rising Regional Tensions
On the US side, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner will represent Washington.
Both countries previously described earlier discussions as constructive. Officials also agreed on basic principles to guide future negotiations. However, tensions remain high.
The United States has increased its military presence in the Gulf. At the same time, Iranโs Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been conducting military drills.
Speaking to Congress, President Donald Trump said he prefers diplomacy but warned that military options are still on the table. In response, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei rejected US accusations, calling them misleading and politically motivated.
A Potential Turning Point
Analysts think that the coming dialogue may have a significant impact on the future of Iran-US relations. This will depend on whether both parties can capitalize on past agreements.
Currently, it seems that both nations are being cautious yet optimistic. The coming weeks will be critical as Washington and Tehran decide whether to cooperate or confront each other.
