Iran has outlined a 10-point framework for negotiations with the United States as part of discussions aimed at securing a permanent ceasefire following the recent pause in hostilities, according to reports cited by 24NewsHD.
Sources familiar with the matter said Iranโs Supreme National Security Council has made clear that Tehran will only consider a lasting ceasefire if its proposed principles are accepted as the basis for formal negotiations.
Talks between US and Iranian officials are expected to begin in Islamabad on April 11, with the current truce serving as a temporary confidence-building measure.
Tehran Lists Core Demands
According to the reported framework, Iran is seeking guarantees that the United States will not launch future military action against it.
Tehran has also demanded the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz under continued Iranian control, the lifting of all sanctions and the withdrawal of international resolutions imposed through the UN Security Council and other oversight bodies.
In addition, Iran reportedly wants the release of frozen assets, access to restricted funds and compensation to support postwar reconstruction.
The framework also includes calls for an end to conflicts in Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen, along with the withdrawal of US combat forces from the wider region.
Negotiations Tied to Truce Extension
In return, Iran has reportedly indicated it would halt any pursuit of nuclear weapons as part of a broader settlement.
Sources said Iranian leadership has approved the 10-point plan as the foundation for two weeks of negotiations with Washington.
However, officials stressed that beginning talks does not automatically guarantee a permanent peace agreement.
Iranโs Supreme National Security Council reportedly said the current ceasefire remains temporary and would only be extended with the consent of all parties involved.
Analysts say the proposed conditions set an ambitious opening position for Tehran ahead of what could become the most consequential US-Iran talks in years.
