A senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has asserted that the country’s enriched uranium reserves remain untouched despite recent U.S. airstrikes targeting key nuclear facilities.
Ali Shamkhani, a prominent member of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, downplayed the impact of the strikes, insisting that Iran’s nuclear capabilities are far from compromised.
“Even if nuclear sites are destroyed, the game isn’t over. Enriched materials, indigenous knowledge, and political will remain,” Shamkhani posted on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the strategic depth of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
He added that Iran retains the upper hand in the conflict through smart strategy rather than brute force:
“With legitimate defence rights, the political and operational initiative is now with the side that plays smart and avoids blind strikes. Surprises will continue!”
Evacuations Carried Out Before Strikes
Iran’s state broadcaster, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), reported that nuclear sites targeted in the strikes had been evacuated in advance. Sensitive materials were reportedly relocated to secure, undisclosed locations as a precautionary measure.
Earlier in the day, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that the U.S., in coordination with Israel, struck three major nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
According to American defense officials, the operation involved six bunker-busting bombs delivered by B-2 stealth bombers on the Fordow facility, along with multiple submarine-launched cruise missiles targeting Natanz and Isfahan.
These attacks represent a significant escalation in the ongoing U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran, which began on June 13. In response, Tehran launched retaliatory missile barrages against Israeli targets, further intensifying the regional conflict.
